The Fictional Family Book Tag

Dear fellow Babblers,

Today is the day I bounce up and down off the walls like the Mexican jumping bean my mother has raised me to be. And this is all thanks to our dearest Laura Beth at Hot Shot Headlines. This lovely gal has tagged me in the infamous (…just go with it) Fictional Family Book Tag. The last time I was tagged or nominated for anything was all the way back in Novemeber so y’all should understand my giddy excitement to get down to it. Laura Beth’s blog is always my go to because it not only includes thorough book reviews, but also super interesting commentary on events and news of the day. The Queen mama AKA creator of this tag is Marill at Books and Ravens. So enough of my jibber jabber, and gets see what unlucky characters ’bout to be a part of my gang.  Continue reading “The Fictional Family Book Tag”

Where Delphine Be At + Book Aesthetics Tag

Dear fellow Babblers,

I’ve been an awfully terrible blogger these past few months. After the high and excitement went away regarding my new home in France I quickly fell into a long, dreary and dark wave of depression that resulted in nostalgia and ended with complete and utter helplessness. So finding the motivation to blog and even read, which has always picked up my spirits before, has been hard, if not impossible – hence my lack of activity here on wordpress lately. I find it fascinating how we can go from joy to grief in such a short and abrupt amount of time and we often have no idea what triggers this. I mean, I love it here in the Burgundy region. I really do. But it has not wiped away the problems I had back in Los Angeles – it only masked them for a while. And now ? They are all coming back to the surface. I ran away from my problems. I packed my bags and came to France in hopes that I could forget everything that happened a few years ago. Life doesn’t work that way though and now I’m more lost than ever in a place far from everything I’ve ever known. I’m sad. But I’m a hopeful kind of sad. The sort of sad that just takes time. Soon everything will get better, I still have faith…  Continue reading “Where Delphine Be At + Book Aesthetics Tag”

‘Friends’ Book Tag

Dear fellow Babblers,

Oh heyyyyy y’all. Welcome to Delphine’s much overdue tag time! I’m writing this post completely and utterly jet lagged so bare with me if something doesn’t quite make sense. But then again, very little of what I ramble on about is really just a bunch of nonsensical mush pouring out of my queer imagination.

Anyways I tried to pick a tag that seemed doable and really rather simple – I’m a lazy whore, I know, deal with it or kiss a toad.

I was tagged some time ago (my memory is the size of a speckled dandelion) by Dani at Perspective of a Writer. I love this blogger. She’s always o active here and comments on posts, keeping up with just about everything in our growing bookish community. And then her posts are just on top of it – always staying up to date with ARCS, new releases, and not to mention thought-provoking discussions! So if you would puh-leese listen to Mademoiselle Delphine and give her sit a whirl I promise you will become one of her greatest toad. If not, I will officially kiss a slug – which basically means I’m more than 120% certain you’ll enjoy reading her stuff.  Continue reading “‘Friends’ Book Tag”

Teeny-Weeny Life Update + Coffee Book Tag

Dear fellow Babblers,

A moment of silence for books. Yes books.

I love books and I know that all y’all do too. If you don’t, why you’re reading or following my blog remains an enigma if ya ask me. I really have no reason to be writing this right now, given the fact that this is not supposed to be a discussion post but rather a tag. But we’ll get to the tag after a short babble on the magic of books. I’ve been having a number of personal issues lately that have been putting me in a teary eyed and upside down mood lately. Reading has been my escape and solace. It’s only during reading (and my long, excruciating morning runs, but lets not get into that) that I finally find hope and make a return to joy and the hopeful possibility that theres a whole world out there just waiting to be delved into. It’s really hard for me to deal with sadness and pain so I’ve been hiding out at home and reading from early morning into the late evening only leaving the house for doctors appointments, job interviews, and to throw out the trash. If it wasn’t for books I don’t know how I would cope. Lazlo Strange, Eliza Mirk, Lara Jean Song – all my favorite characters remind me that, despite everything, there’s still hope and maybe, just maybe, things will get better. I’m sure we’ve all had some pretty low lows and I know a lot of my readers know exactly what I’m talking about when I say books save lives, in the most literal sense of the word. That’s all for now. Let’s get to the real purpose of my rambles, the Coffee Book TagContinue reading “Teeny-Weeny Life Update + Coffee Book Tag”

Wonder Woman Book Tag

Dear fellow Babblers,

So I got a cray cray update for y’all. I’m in anti-social non babble mood at the moment. All I want to do is read and escape from reality in every way, shape, and form humanely (or non humanely since I’m eating portions more fit for big foot at this point) possible. And that includes the blogosphere as well. It’s not like any of y’all would notice anyway… Well, except for my cyber stalkers or creepy fans out there who live, breathe, and dwell on each and every word of my posts. Everything is going pretty *meh,* *bah,* *ugh,* *get the mother effff out of my face,* in my life right now. I’ve gotten into a routine which consists of going on excruciatingly long runs in the mornings just to get my nonexistent muscles back in motion, laying in bed with a cup of artificially sweetened tea an ARC on my lap, a possible nap here and there, and then whatever I feel up to next to complete my banal daylight waking hours. So, as y’all can see, not much is happenen’ in my vida right now which should bring me peace and make me feel a bit tranquil and stress free. Unfortunately Delphine is a negative little fishy who cannot keep herself still for long enough for her to hold her breath. I’m not exactly sure where I’m even going with this rant but the fact of the matter is Señorita Delphine is feeling especially antisocial and down in the dumps this week. Hence, she (AKA this B***) is unable to come up with anything interesting or even close to unique to blog about. Sure, I’m reading now more than ever just because I’m trying to take a step away from my own life given some of the personal battles I’m struggling against at the moment, but I don’t have much to say about really anything. Well, maybe I do, but I don’t have the strength, creativity, LITERARY VOICE to express my feelings about anything that I’m reading. So I thought I would take advantage and do one of my tags. I hope y’all aren’t here for some of Delphine’s usual free comedy happy hour sesh cause sorry to break it to ya my lovelies but that just ain’t happenin’ today.

One of my bestiest bestest blogging buddies, Alex at coffeeloving bookoholic has recently tagged me in the Wonder Woman Book Tag so I thought I would put this one first in my never-ending to-do tag list. Before I begin, however, I just want to give an honorary message to Alex for always reading my banters and my attempted book reviews. She is always active and ready for a bookish babble. Given that I have very few friends in this horrid reality who love reading the way I do, I have had so much fun these past few months talking books with Alex. Make sure to check out her blog and give her a follow for some of the latest reviews on recent releases as well as a huge selection of memes, tags, and nominations where you can learn more about the blogger behind the blog!
Enough of my pessimistic, depression talk… Lets put on our smiley faces and get back to the purpose of this post… Tag Time, BOOYAHContinue reading “Wonder Woman Book Tag”

New BFF: Delphine’s Babble on Some Good Reads

I recently took part in a Q&A with, yup, our very favorite Inge at The Belgian Reviewer. A big ‘ole panda hug to one of my newest blogging BFF’s. You made my week blossom and shine like sun rays on a stormy day doll face! (okay, perhaps I’ll never be Shakespeare, but y’all gotta admit that verse was pretty crafty).

The Belgian Reviewer

BFF

Today on the blog I’d like to welcome Delphine who is the babbler on Delphine’s Babble on Some Good Reads. If you don’t know her yet, you are going to be so impressed with this girl! She is so clever, she reads all kinds of genres, I mean she knows all the classics, she’s a fan of Alice,… she has great (and expensive) taste in shoes, she loves to use sarcasm, she likes books over movie adaptations (because movies wouldn’t even be there without the books), she loves pearls, not diamonds, and has 4 tattoos, and one of them are words in French. Yeah she has a thing for France and even wants to live there ;-). If you want to see her tattoos (go on, I know you do) or read more fun facts go on over to her blog and give her a like and a follow…

Blogger Aesthetic Award/Tag

Dear fellow Babblers,

I’m about to provide y’all with an inside peak into my aesthetically dysfunctional mind. Beautiful Bella over at Bella Blogs Because Books has nominated this chica for the Blogger Aesthetic Award. Now if we are talkin’ pretty and altogether amazing when we define aesthetic then I highly recommend (like, guys you don’t have a choice here) you visit her blog. Her creative blog theme is both charming and always a pleasure to visit. On her directory page you’ll find a variety of new releases and reviews from the Young Adult genre, which, I don’t know about you, is one of the funnest genres to read reviews of. Anyway there is no one or few words to describe my so called “aesthetic” but I will nonetheless give this thingy a go just cause it seems fun and gives me an excuse to feel productive as I lay scrunched up in bed for five ours scrolling through Tumblr and Pinterest. What Makes You Happy Tag

Dear fellow Babblers,

It’s Monday and all the kiddies out there are begging their mamas and papas for money to buy gel pens, elmer purple glue, and Bratz (is that even a ‘thing’ anymore?) backpacks to show off to their dimwit crushes come the first day of school. While I am getting older I’m sure as Pete happy not to be in that hormonally unstable period in my life. Ugh – acne, blubber in all the wrong places, and not to mention and outrageous appetite that sent my allowance into the negatives (girls gotta eat ya know!)…

… And what am I doing? I’m sitting across from an epically gorgeous guy at my local coffee bean and while I should be looking at the screen as I type this babble I just can’t take my eyes off this boo thang. But then again I gotta stay invisible taken the fact that my lazy tushy literally walked out in public this morning with the same getup she went to sleep in last night. And to make matters worse there’s a grape fruit stain on my tee shirt… Help. A-JOLT. Pause. Allow me to iron my pot belly down, slip on a teenie-weenie-polka-dot bikini and head back in and then maybe he and I can “talk” (code for run off together towards the sunset).

Anyway the previous two paragraphs were ramblings from the purpose of this post. Perhaps I’m just happy to be conceited yet again? I get to tell all y’all what makes Señorita Delphine (hence moi) happy dappy paddy wacky! Thank you to the book and coffee enthusiast, Alex over at coffeeloving bookaholic for tagging me in the, yup you know it my lovelies, What Makes You Happy Tag. I met this eclectic gal about a month ago and have such a pleasure talking books with her. If you love, or at least tolerate me, please place your pretty little finger on zee mouse and click over to her blog. There you will find some of the most excellent reviews of anything from Young Adult to Adult Contemporary. And not to mention all the fun weekly memes and, of course tags, that Alex is known for. Now, if you would please excusez-moi, but now it’s all about me cause I’m a bad b**** as I offer you the happy pill into my notoriously thuggin life.
